  NOTICE regarding the class question about Homework Problem 3.6: Note that the problem asks you to find the Equilibrium Probability Distribution. This means that the generating function you are looking for is one with no time dependence - e.g. you set dF/dt = 0 and then get a generating function for the equilibrium distribution F(x) and the constant of integration arises simply by realizing that F(1) = 1.
